United Way of Greater Atlanta is one of the largest chapters within the United Way Worldwide network. They are dedicated to child well-being throughout the 13 counties in the Atlanta metro area. Every year the organization conducts the Shoebox Project providing essential toiletry-filled shoeboxes to homeless and low-income individuals in the Greater Atlanta area. These shoeboxes are decorated and filled with brand new toiletries and a note of inspiration by the community members. The shoeboxes then can be drop-off to the United Way of Greater Atlanta's Donation Center.
For Mother's day, 2013, the United Way of Greater Atlanta ran a shoebox design competition campaign on Facebook with the help from Creative Mischief, a branding and marketing agency based in Atlanta, Georgia. The agency approached Schecter & Co. to create a custom Facebook app that allowed both businesses and individuals to upload photographs of their shoebox projects and vote for their favorite shoeboxes submitted.
The UI design was provided by Creative Mischief. I worked with a software engineer, Scott Schecter, to implement the front-end code.
